Young Musicians European Orchestra

Talented musicians for live concerts in Ravenna

The Young Musicians European Orchestra of Ravenna has been active since 2008, a reality of young musicians, of average age 23 years, coming from all over Europe and, over time, also from countries outside Europe. From time to time, his staff is also made up of senior musicians, that is the members who have participated in numerous performances in the first years of activity. On certain occasions the Young Musicians European Orchestra also had the pride of integrating valid components from the main conservatories of Beijing, Moscow, Shanghai and
Madrid, as well as young musicians from the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, with whom the Young Musicians European Orchestra has collaborated in two concerts, one in the Iranian capital and the other in Ravenna. Finally, it is worth mentioning the participation of some talented musicians from North Korea, playing Mozart's Requiem together with Muenchener-Bach Chor, one of the most acclaimed choral teams in the world.

Important collaborations all over the world

At the Easter concert in Sant'Apollinare in Classe in 2007 at the concert in Jerusalem in 2013, the Young Musicians European Orchestra had the pleasure of collaborating and being filmed by the broadcaster Rai. Over the years, the orchestra has been able to gain the interest and favor of an ever wider audience: an important occasion was the concert at the Basilica of San Vitale on the occasion of a historic conference between Catholic and Protestant bishops and Orthodox. On the occasion of the Christmas Concert project, in 2016 the Young Musicians European Orchestra performed in Romagna, where all the rehearsals were opened to the public, while the second part of the project took place first in Rieti and in some areas hit by the earthquake in that year, later in Rome at the Paolina Chapel of the Quirinale, in Jerusalem, in Bethlehem, and finally in Matera.

Music awareness

Every single activity carried out by the young musicians of the Young Musicians European Orchestra is part of a larger project: making young people aware of music. To achieve this goal, the training makes use of the valuable contributions of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, of the Mae and the Emilia-Romagna Region, as well as of the Municipality of Ravenna, obtaining the patronage of the Unesco Youth Committee. All the events of the Young Musicians European Orchestra are carried out to promote peace, culture and dialogue between nations, ideals that only music can fully exalt.

Activities with professional soloists

2019 was an important year for the young musicians of the Ravenna orchestra: from recording the first record with the Passion according to Mark to organizing tours in China, Russia, Israel and Palestine, the Young Musicians European Orchestra also developed interesting international projects with world-famous soloists. Uto Ughi, Kian Soltani, Jonathan Roozeman, Roman Kim, Timoty Ridout, Gabriele Strata and Francesca Dego are some of the names that have had the pleasure of collaborating with the European Youth Orchestra. Thanks to excellent versatility, the Young Musicians European Orchestra is able to form itself into small chamber groups and perform a wide range of musical genres, from baroque to contemporary.
